I'm just going to throw it out there...it's pretty annoying to see so many outfit posts during winter in coats, skirts and sandals. It's just not what people are really wearing is it? Too bad we don't all live in LA.

Living Downtown, I walk everywhere so keeping my feet warm is my biggest concern in the cold weather.  My cobalt blue "bathrobe" coat that fits over all my sweater and jackets as well as these giant furry boots have been getting me through the winter. 

This is also the first time in my life that I have ventured to wear a hat! Normally I think they make me look silly but this cashmere hat from Minnie Rose is perfect and fun to wear.

This outfit was inspired by this coat that I picked up on whim. The texture and color give this classic style a little update. I really love the boxy shape that gives it a menswear vibe. I'm all over the trend in menswear inspired style and large over sized pieces...it means I can wear my normal size and still feel like my cloths are too large. It does wonders for body image (said while rolling my eyes.)

Valentines Day Wish List | His and Hers

For Her: Chloe Roses, Burberry Brit Rhythm, Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb, Kenzo Flower

However cliche they are, it can be great to get traditional Valentines gifts. My favorites being candy and perfume. These are the four parfumes/ parfume brands that are always on my wish list. Plus they are all cute and pink for V-Day!

All of the Chloe fragrances smell great (See by Chloe is pretty wonderful too) but they tend to be at a higher price point so I haven't purchased any. This rose version has had a sample in pretty much every major magazine and I love it more and more each time I smell it!

Burberry Brit was the first actual perfume that I ever owned due to my British obsession, so when they made a women's version of Rhythm it became a must on my list.  

Kenzo is one of my favorite brands out there, developed due to this fragrance. It is super powdery and fresh. I can always use more of it!

Flowerbomb and Spicebomb are just plain cool. They smell edgy and complex.  I think Rob would really like this Spicebomb scent.

There are so many abandoned buildings on the side of the city that I live and I can't help but find inspiration from them. It's the side of the city that creativity has been allowed to flourish and where refurbishing what already exists is more important than building fresh and new. When it's cold and hazy they are only that much more sad and lonely. For some reason it makes me feel like I'm in scene from an old movie about life on the wrong side of the tracks, but that's what makes it cool right?

Finally posting some of the photos Rob and I took back in October! This was at a reservoir park in the East San Fransisco Bay. It was way too hot for a sweater then but now that it's basically the coldest Winter I can ever remember it has become a staple under my coats.

New Years Resolutions - A Fresh Outlook

After an unbelievably disappointing 2013, I have done something I never thought I would. I made New Years resolutions! They all revolve around making a conscious effort to take full advantage of 2014 and making it the best and most life-enhancing year.

This year is meant to be a turning point in my life, where I actually take control of my life and starting heading down the path that my whole existence has lead to believing is the right one.

The best thing that can come out of a bad year is actually being forced to think about why it was so bad and what you actually want from life – something that you don’t do when you are happily coasting along in life.

Normally the passing of an entire year makes me unbelievably anxious. However, this year, I have actually made decisions regarding where to take my life, and I don’t think I have ever looked forward to one day of the year as much as I did New Years Day this year.  I’m excited and hopeful…are rare feeling in my life lately.

Here are my resolutions…as silly as they seem I think they are AMAZING!

Yoga

I would like to become a yoga practitioner. Classes, lifestyle all of that. I will be working with the activewear company Hard Tail Forever at work and am increasingly drawn to the active lifestyle.

Get out of Utah

Hopefully by August – October some of my planning will work out and I will have a different home base for a while. The grass is always greener on the other side, but I am bored here. Thinking London, Paris or LA. Stay tuned.

A longer-term goal (but not too long) will be for Rob and I to have the luxury to work remotely, my spirit needs to wander.

Be more adventurous with my hair and style

I spend my day looking at magazines, fashion and popular culture. It’s all so fun.

Take more #selfies

Liberation! I am much too critical of myself and second-guess myself way too much…this will force me get over it.  Roomie and brother, Ken, suggested I take one a day – challenge accepted! 365 selfies to come. #yearoftheselfie #selfish

Be deserving of good Karma

Sometimes I can’t help but attribute my bad fortune this year to bad karma…I can actually name the day that I think screwed up my life and wish I could go back to see if good karma would have changed the outcome. This year I going to put positive energy into the universe and hope someday the cosmos will remember my contribution.
